Sugar Syrup recipe

This is another ingredient that may appear in some of the recipes on this blog site.

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
Method: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool.

Anita (Mocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 45ml orange juice
  • 45ml lemon juice
  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Soda water
  • Crushed ice
Method: Mix all ingredients thoroughly until ice has melted. Pour into glass.

Cinderella (Mocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 45ml lemon juice
  • 45ml pineapple juice
  • 45ml orange juice
  • Dash of grenadine
  • Soda water
  • Crushed ice
Method: Mix all ingredients except soda water. Stir vigorously. Top with soda water.

Jersey Lilly (Mocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 340ml sparkling apple juice
  • 33ml Angostura bitters
  • 1/4 teaspoon caster sugar
  • Crushed ice
Method: Mix all ingredients together. Stir until ice has melted.

Vodka Blue Moon (Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 30ml vodka
  • 30ml Blue Curacao
  • Lemonade or soda water
Method: Add plenty of ice into glass. Add vodka and Blue Curacao. Top with lemonade or soda water.

Mint Julep (Mocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 250ml pineapplee juice
  • 250ml ginger ale
Method: Roughly chop mint leaves and place in heatproof jug with sugar. Using a wooden spoon, bruise (muddle) the mint and sugar. Add lemon juice, pineapple juice and 125ml boiling water. Mix well. Cover with plastic wrap and leave for 30 minutes. Strain then refrigerate until cold. Add ginger ale and mix well.
Note: Makes 2x300ml glasses.

Coconut & Lime Lassie (Mocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 400ml coconut milk
  • 185g plain yoghurt
  • 60ml lime juice
  • 60g caster sugar
  • 8-10 ice cubes
Method: Blend together all ingredients until the mixture is well smooth.
Note: Makes 2x375ml glasses.

Green Skies (Mocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 12 green grapes, sliced
  • 4 kiwi fruits, sliced
  • 4 strawberries, sliced
  • 500ml Schweppes Agrum Blood Orange
Method: Add all ingredients into pitcher and leave to infuse for 5 minutes before serving.

Ingredients:
  • Half kiwi fruit
  • 3 pieces pineapple
  • Lemon & lime mineral water
Method: Add kiwi fruit and pineapple into glass. Muddle. Add ice, stir and top with mineral water.

The Spice Tree (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 6 green grapes
  • 2 pieces rockmelon
  • Half green chilli
  • Schweppes Agrum Citrus Blend
Method: Add green grapes, rockmelon and chilli into glass. Muddle. Add ice and top with Citrus Blend.
Note: Add a dash of vodka for a cocktail.

Melody (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 2 pieces honeydew melon
  • Half ripe pear
  • 30ml verjuice
  • 30ml lemon juice cordial
Method: Add honeydew melon and pear into a mixing glass. Muddle. Add verjuice and cordial. Add ice, shake and strain into glass.
Note: Add a dash of pear vodka for a cocktail.

The Berry Bush (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 10 blackberries
  • 60ml verjuice
  • 60ml blackberry & vanilla cordial
  • 500ml Schweppes Agrum Blood Orange
Method: Add all ingredients into pitcher and leave to infuse for 5 minutes before serving.
Note: Add a dash of blackcurrant vodka for a cocktail. (For a pitcher, make it a big dash)

Yellow Brick Road (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 2 mangoes, sliced
  • 1 lemongrass, sliced
  • 2 chilles
  • 500ml Schweppes apple & pink grapefruit mineral water
Method: Add all ingredients into pitcher and leave to infuse for 5 minutes before serving.
Note: Add a dash of elderflower liqueur for a cocktail (For a pitcher, make it a big dash)

Ingredients:
  • 6 thyme sprigs
  • 2 teaspoons earl grey tea
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 60ml lime cordial
  • 500ml Schweppes Argrum White Grape & Passionfruit
Method: Add all ingredients into pitcher and leave to infuse for 5 minutes before serving.
Note: Add a dash of gin for a cocktail. (For a pitcher, make it a big dash)

The Green Hornet (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • Half Granny Smith apple
  • 15ml dandelion syrup
  • 60ml lemon & lime mineral water
Method: Add apple and dandelion syrup into a mixing glass. Muddle. Add mineral water. Add ice, shake and strain into glass.
Note: Add a dash of gin for a cocktail.

The Secret Garden (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • Half Granny Smith apple
  • 8 flat leaf parsley leaves
  • 5ml elderflower syrup
  • 10ml lime juice
  • 60ml Schweppes orange & passionfruit mineral water
Method: Add apple and parsley into mixing glass. Muddle. Add elderflower syrup, lime juice and mineral water. Add ice, shake and strain into glass.
Note: Add a dash of gin for a cocktail.

Verjuice recipe

Here is a ingredient that you might need to make, if you can't find it in stores.

Ingredients:
  • 1kg green grapes
  • Water. for washing (optional)
Method: Pick the green grapes off the stem, discarding any that are spoiled. The grapes should be sour enough to make you pull a face! Washing the grapes is optional. Puree the grapes in blender and take the resulting juice. It should be clear with a tinge of green.

Ingredients:
  • 2 strawberries
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 15ml raspberry cordial
  • 15ml verjuice
  • Lime & lemon mineral water
Method: Add strawberries, basil leaves, cordial and verjuice into a glass. Muddle. Add ice, stir and top with mineral water.
Note: Add a dash of cranberry vodka for a cocktail.

Wild One (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 1 plum, de-stoned
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 15ml lime cordial
  • Dry ginger ale
Method: Add plum, mint and cordial into glass. Muddle. Add ice, stir and add ginger ale.
Note: Add a dash of whiskey for a cocktail.

Wild One

Fiji-5-0 (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 4 pieces pineapple
  • 2 whole apricots
  • 30ml coconut cream
  • 45ml lime cordial
  • Ice cubes to blend
Method: Add all ingredients into blender. Blend until smooth and pour.
Note: Add a dash of white rum for a cocktail.

The Golden Grape (Mocktail/Cocktail)

Ingredients:
  • 3 pieces pink grapefruit
  • 8 green seedless grapes
  • 10ml golden syrup
  • 60ml Schweppes Agrum White Grape & Passionfruit
Method: Add pink grapefruit and grapes into a mixing glass. Muddle. Add golden syrup and cordial. Add ice, shake and strain.
Note: Add a dash of brandy-based liqueur to make cocktail.

Ingredients:
  • 6 raspberries
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 15ml raspberry cordial
  • Soda water
Method: Add raspberries, mint leaves and cordial into glass. Muddle. Add ice, stir and top with soda water.
